DDL in Teacher Training Colleges
By December, CW4WAfghan completed new installations of the Darakht-e Danesh Library (DDL) offline setup in three Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) - (Laghman, Takhar and Parwan) - and upgraded the setup in 8 TTCs (Kabul, Nangarhar, Khost, Kandahar, Herat, Bamyan, Herat and Faryab). As the project comes to completion, we are excited to report that in addition to the installations and upgrades in 11 provinces, we also provided workshops on Open Educational Resources (OERs); educational materials; and instruction on how to use DDL for 40 female students in each of the TTCs.
We also celebrated the winners of our DDL Writing Contest, in which female students had the opportunity to submit an open education resource for DDL (lesson plans, games, lectures and more). Twenty-two female teacher trainees were awarded with a trophy and certificate during November and December.
The installations, upgrades and CW4WAfghan's first Writing Contest were all made possible with the generous support of the Government of Canada's Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI).
