New Video About Open Licensing

As part of our efforts to support users to license their works when submitting materials to the Library, or to choose an appropriate license when submitting work created by others, we have made Dari and Pashto versions of this video about Creative Commons licenses created by Creative Commons Aotearoa New Zealand.

Collection policy

DDL has now published its Collection Policy. This policy outlines what types of items are included in the library and the process by which items come to be added. The Resource Quality Checklist provides additional guidance on evaluating resources for inclusion.

Website redesign

Our new homepage (ddl.af) offers a great new way to explore our collections by topic area and specific subject. We've created a graphical hierarchy of overarching topic areas like Life Sciences and Language Arts, each with its own list of specific subject areas. We are working on populating these subject areas with resources for teachers at any level.

New collections

The Darakht-e Danesh Library is happy to announce a number of new collections! These include a collection of works from Free Women Writers, a set of materials on Open Education, and learning resources related to Digital Literacy. Check out the full menu on the library's homepage.

Call For Translators

We are seeking experienced, professional, punctual and detail oriented translators who have an excellent command of both source and target languages to translate educational material from English into Pashto or into Dari, for our library of open educational resources (OER) for Afghanistan. The freelance, contracted translators will produce high quality, error-free translations. The translator should ensure consistency in meaning between the texts, correct spelling, formatting, standard terminologies and strong sentence structure so that translated documents are clear, readable and technically sound. A high degree of translation integrity and accuracy is required. Translators must ensure that all documents are fully and accurately translated and no items are missing, misinterpreted or incomplete from the translation rendered. Evidence of previous translation experience should be provided in the application.

We Are Looking For Translators!

Are you fluent in Pashto and English? Are you a good writer? Do you have experience doing translation? Do you want to help strengthen eductation in Afghanistan?

Please consider posting one of these banners on your Facebook page, Twittter feed, Linkedin page or Instagram account, to help us find more Pashto volunteer translators. Thank you for your support in getting the word out!
